Resistin increases cisplatin-induced cytotoxicity in lung adenocarcinoma A549 cells via a mitochondria-mediated pathway

Lung cancer is the most commonly diagnosed with a high mortality rate. Cisplatin one of important chemotherapeutic agents for treatment lung patients, especially in advanced stages. Recent studies show that cisplatin may interact mitochondria to induce apoptosis, which partly account its cytotoxicity. In study, we explored effect resistin on cisplatin-induced cytotoxicity A549 cells and assessed whether mitochondria-dependent apoptosis was involved. Our results found 25 ng/ml could significantly increase G2/M phase arrest, enhance reactive oxygen species generation, exacerbate collapse mitochondrial membrane potential, promote distribution cytochrome C cytoplasm from mitochondria, activate caspase 3. Therefore, suggested might via mitochondria-mediated pathway cells. However, precise mechanism remains be future.
